A challenge to celebrate where you are at physically
There are days when I feel great about my current state of fitness. I celebrate that I finally got a pull-up, front squatted 120lbs, did a few double-unders in a row, or even improved on my thrusters. But, then there are days where I feel like I completely failed, was slow, or could have done better. In the last few weeks, I’ve had quite a bit of the latter type of days and when that happens, it’s so easy to go into the “woe to me” state and compare to others. It’s so easy to totally negate all of your achievements because you didn’t accomplished what you felt you should for that day. Is that what it’s really all about though? Should it always be about making a persona record, finishing your workout faster, or always coming out on top? NO, it shouldn’t. It’s not realistic nor is it life giving. This world has set us up to constantly compare ourselves to others and constantly feel shame if we aren’t like others. Yet, we are NOT created to be just like others, we WERE created to be the best us. Fight that feeling of shame, envy, or comparison and celebrate you, celebrate how wonderfully created you were, celebrate how intelligent you are, celebrate the woman or man God is making you to be.
This article by Melissa Hartwig, Co-Founder of the Whole 30 program, couldn’t explain this or challenge us better. It’s a timely word for me and I pray it’s a timely word for you:

Challenge yourself today to fight comparisons and celebrate who you are and where you are at in the present, today – not where you were yesterday or will be tomorrow. Celebrate yourself, today.
