“Whole 30: A Learning Tool, Not a Lifestyle” – Dallas Hartwig
Whole 30 is not a diet, but a way of eating and living. It’s not about restrictions, it’s about empowerment and freedom when it comes to your food choices. It’s not about losing weight, it’s about gaining your health back. Whole 30 is a tool I have personally used to jump start my journey in holistic health for the rest of my life.
I’ve done Whole 30 two times and each time, I’ve learned more and more about food, my body, and how to have pursue holistic health in every area of my life. Both times I considered the program a challenge, but after each time, I incorporated Whole 30 principles more and more into my lifestyle. Now, I can say I eat Whole 30 compliant most of the week and only deviate when I want to and know I won’t feel too guilty. I understand that I have freedom of choice when it comes to eating, and choose what I eat and when I eat it. Do I eat perfect? Nope. Do I enjoy the Whole 30 and non-whole 30 foods I eat? Definitely.
Society has boxed us into believing we must follow the latest diet and/or fitness program in order to obtain some level of beauty or perfection, which is actually unattainable. For too long have we let magazines, “As seen on TV”, and society tell us what we need to eat and how we should look. And it’s time that stopped. It’s time we redeem true health back.
The below article by Dallas Hartwig, co-founder of the Whole 30 program, challenges us to do just that. In it, he challenges us to not see Whole 30 as a diet or a quick fix or the religion of food. Instead, he challenges us to see it as a tool to enable us to live healthy lives for the REST of our lives. He challenges us to eat real food for the rest of our lives, not just for a challenge or time period.
My hope is that you take a read and will yes, desire to try Whole 30 and see how it will change your life, but ultimately, for you to have a tool in your back pocket to enable you to work towards holistic health, every day of your life.
