Whole 30: Day 13 – The Power of Dreaming on Your Health
There is great power in both dreams that are realized and dreams that are unrealized. We all have dreams and aspirations to do or see something happen in our lives or those around us. Some of us make steps towards those dreams, and some of us let them slip away from our hands. We too often let fear and discouragement win and give up before we even try.
My dearest friends, do not let fear win. Do not live a life of dreams unrealized. Make steps towards your own personal growth, your own development, your own dreams becoming realized. It is not impossible, it is possible.
Personally, I’ve been there when it comes to dream unrealized and realized. From November of last year, I had a dream of pursuing a certification in health and wellness coaching to see others experience the freedom, fun, and empowerment I received from eating real food and pursuing holistic health. For months, I dreamed and waited and dreamed and waited. For months, I oscillated between hope and discouragement. For months, I said “What if?” But you know what? For months, God confirmed this calling and passion in my life through friends, family, and situations. For months, they told me to not give up but that they could see God had called me to this. For months, they pointed me back towards my passion and calling and admonished me to Wait on the Lord. Then in July of this year, the dream became realized. I joined the Institute of Integrative Nutrition and am on my way to being a Certified Health Coach. And I can tell you my friends, that I love what I study week in and week out. I love reading about the power of leafy greens. I love listening to lectures on the power of micronutrients in preventing health diseases. I love sharing what I learn with anyone and everyone around me. I love it, I love it, I love it. I’m like a kid with candy each time I learn, each time I study, each time I share. And what’s cool is that God has already opened the doors to so many ways I could influence others through health coaching – all it took was holding on to that dream and telling myself that it would happen, no matter what.
Yet, a dream realized is not just for me to experience or find joy in – it’s also for you, it’s promised to you. I encourage you to take some time after reading this and answer the following questions:
- What is that one dream that echoes my heart’s greatest desire?
- What do I want to see happen in my life and the lives around me?
- What calling has God given me?
- If I could do anything, where money or time was no obstacle, what would that be?
- What steps do I need to take to seeing my unrealized dreams become realized?
After you’ve written your answers down, tell a loved one the answers and ask him or her to hold you accountable to the steps you outlined in question 5. Commit to this and do whatever it takes to see this dream become reality. When we are pursuing the things we know we are called to do, we are happier and more joyful and thus, healthier.
As the picture for this blog post states, it is better to live a life full of childish dreams than to live a dreamless life. So my friends, dream on and live on.
